Burnley have dropped to last place in the table after a round of twenty-two that saw Norwich, Watford and Newcastle all score. However, they have three games in hand and are only three points behind seventeenth place.
Watford took a point against Newcastle at the weekend for a 1-1 draw. The winter reinforcements have performed well and Claudio Ranieri will have plenty to choose from on Tuesday. On the other hand, the Hornets are without a league win for seven games.
The home side’s mainstay Chris Wood left a few days ago for Newcastle for £30 million. The Clarets will be even more reliant on Maxwell Cornet, the summer signing already has six league goals.
Watford didn’t let Nigerian Emmanuel Dennis, author of eight league goals and five assists, go to the AFCON. Joao Pedro is getting into form after injury, the 20-year-old striker has scored two goals and assisted once so far.
Burnley have traditionally relied on a solid defence and have been plagued by poor productivity. Despite being last, they have scored the fewest goals of the teams in the second half of the table (27).
The Hornets have scored ten more goals in the Premier League and have conceded twenty-one goals in their last eight games through all competitions.
Given the departure of mainstay Wood, I don’t think Watford will lose. I recommend backing him in a no draw bet. This means that in the event of a draw, the odds will drop to 1.00.
