Burnley vs. Watford: Preview and betting tips
A six-point rescue battle will enrich Wednesday’s programme of the seventeenth round of the Premier League. Burnley will challenge Watford at home, with only two points separating the two clubs. What to expect from the match?
Burnley are struggling just like last year and are realistically looking for relegation to the Championship. After sixteen rounds they have only eleven points, yet they are only two points behind seventeenth placed Watford.
Watford are putting in a likeable performance under Claudio Ranieri, entertaining the impartial spectator, but the points column is a sad thirteen. Moreover, the Hornets are only three points ahead of last-placed Norwich.
Summer signing Maxwel Cornet has performed well in the Burnley jersey, the African all-rounder has already scored five times. The mainstay of the team in the form of striker Chris Wood has scored three times, Matej Vydra has only struck against Chelsea.
The visitors also brought in a goal scoring reinforcement. Nigerian Emmanuel Dennis is the second most productive player in the Premier League (7+3). Senegalese winger Ismaila Sarr has five accurate shots.
Although Burnley are drowning in the relegation zone, their defence is working well. We’re used to that from recent seasons, but the Clarets have only got twenty-one goals so far. That’s the second lowest number from a team in the second half of the table.
Watford and Burnley are like night and day in this respect. Watford’s defence is not working at all, on the other hand, they have the eighth best offence in the competition with twenty-one goals scored.
Given the away side’s shooting form, I don’t think Watford will lose.
