It’s gonna blow up on Friday. The start of the new Premier League season is here and it kicks off with a spicy clash between last season’s League One and League Two champions. What to expect from Manchester City’s match with Burnley and what to bet on?
Burnley are given the best chance of salvation out of the three relegated teams. The first place was certain a few rounds before the end, the squad weakened only by top scorer Nathan Tell. They beat Benfica, for example, in the preliminary round.
Manchester City enter the season as the overwhelming favourites to win the title. Last year, despite a poor performance in the first part of the season, they dominated the league, the Champions League and the English FA Cup. It triumphed in the Champions League for the first time in its history.
Burnley’s key figures
The home side are pinning their hopes on summer signing Zeki Amdouni, last year’s Conference League top scorer arrived from Basel. James Trafford will feature in goal, the Under-21 European Championship star in an England jersey came for nearly twenty million euros.
Manchester City’s key figures
The visitors rely on Erling Haaland, the Norwegian sniper was the league’s top scorer last season. Not to forget Kevin De Bruyne, the long-time mainstay of the team won the Champions League for the first time last season.
What to expect and what to bet on?
Burnley were far from 100% in their preparations, losing to Belgian side Genk and drawing with Spanish side Betis Sevilla in their dress rehearsal. Manchester City, moreover, will be on a completely different level.
The Citizens did not underestimate the preparation, they beat Bayern and fell to Atlético Madrid in it, they have also had a sharp game. They fell to Arsenal on penalties in the Community Shield, but the game was even.
Considering the offensive quality of the Citizens, the Haaland and De Bruyne factor and the important little detail that Burnley haven’t met a top team for a year, I think Manchester City will win by at least two goals.
