Burnley entered the season with a sympathetic performance without a point against Manchester City. They didn’t play the second leg, Luton didn’t have their pitch ready yet. Vincent Kompany’s charges still have the strongest squad of the newcomers.
Aston Villa got a five from Newcastle in the opener, then made up for it at home against Everton, who they crossed 4-0. They even gave a five to Hibernians in the week and are one step away from the Conference group.
Burnley’s key figures
The home side rely on Connor Roberts, the right-back has experience of the Premier League and the Welsh national team. Much is expected of summer signing Zeki Amdouni, the Swiss hitman shone at Basel last season.
Aston Villa’s key figures
Ollie Watkins shone against Hibernians, scoring a hat-trick, he is on one assist in the league so far. The midfield cannot be imagined without John McGinn, the Scottish midfielder is already captain of the Villans.
What to expect and what to bet on?
Burnley’s defence hasn’t been working too well since training, keeping a clean sheet in only one of their last four games. Last year, under a coach with Kompany’s defensive experience, they had the Championship’s best defence with 35 goals conceded.
That plays into the hands of the Villans, who are sticking to last year’s benchmark and are scoring goal after goal. They have scored more than once in seven of their last eight games, with the likes of Lazio Roma and Newcastle grabbing a treble in the build-up.
Considering the poor current form of Burnley’s defence, on the other hand, Aston Villa’s rampant attack and the positive atmosphere in the away team after the win in Scotland, I think Burnley will lose for the second time at home.
