Gunners fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Saka, who has scored double-digit goals and double-digit assists across all competitions this season, will continue at Arsenal.
The twenty-one-year-old Albion international is another mainstay alongside goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale and striker Gabriel Martinelli, whose services Arsenal have secured with a new contract after a successful season this year.
Negotiations to extend their existing contracts will now focus on two more key players. Offensive midfielder and team captain Martin Ødegaard and stopper William Saliba.
The Daily Mail previously reported that Saka is set to become Arsenal’s highest paid player. With his new contract, he should earn up to £200,000 a week. Saka’s previous contract was due to expire next year.
Saka made his debut for the London big club in the 2018/19 season, but only played one game for the first team.
Since the 2019/20 season, however, he has been a rightful, and more importantly, an important member of Mikel Arteta’s team. With his age still low, Arsenal have a huge promise for the future in Sako.
For his great performances in the Premier League this season, Saka was also nominated for the award for the best player of the season. Alongside Ødegaard, this makes Saka the second Arsenal player to be nominated for this prestigious award.
