Martin Buday was able to win his UFC debut, defeating American Chris Barnett in the third round. However, many were not happy with the result, as Buday was said to have hit his opponent with an illegal punch, but the judges confirmed that this was not the case. How did Buday himself comment on the win?
Slovakian Martin Buday made his UFC debut, defeating Chris Barnett and still has one loss in his career.
However, he was not far from disqualification, as he almost elbowed the American in the back of the head, which is an illegal strike and could have been disqualified.
But the judges confirmed that this was not the case and it could continue. In the end, the former champion stopped him in the third round and was able to enjoy his debut win.
“I was also sure that I didn’t land any illegal punches, but I froze because I already thought it was f*cked up because Barnett started filming, so I thought it was going to be a disqualification or a No Contest,” Buday explained the situation in an interview with MMA Shorties.
He then talked about his opponent, who is only 175 centimeters, which is indeed an unusual height for such a weight class.
“He was a little evasive as he was short, but I’ll improve my accuracy because my hands are starting to fly very nicely in training, so now it’s just the details that if I get it right, I’ll be a little better in the next fight,” he added.
