English football is back! The second part of the Premier League kicks off on Boxing Day, with Brentford taking on Tottenham in the London derby alongside the South Coast derby. What to expect from the match and what to bet on?

Brentford have had a poor December, losing two of their three friendlies and drawing once. However, they can rest easy, they are tenth in the table and have a six-point lead on the relegation zone.

Tottenham have won and drawn once in the friendlies, but need to score full points on Monday. They are fourth in the table, just two points behind second placed Manchester City. On the other hand, fifth-placed Manchester United have only three points less.

Brentford’s key figures

Brentford rely on their goalscorer Ivan Toney, the English striker already has 11 goals and three assists. Rico Henry shines on the left edge of the defence, especially towards the back. Both have been speculated to be in the England squad as well.

Tottenham’s key figures

The visitors have their goalscorer too, with Harry Kane netting 13 goals and adding four assists. Fellow striker Heung Min Son is still searching for form, with a record of five shots and two assists poor by his standards.

What to expect from the match and what to bet on?

The home side have run out of ammunition in November, scoring just four goals in their last five league games, two of them against leaky Nottingham. On the other hand, both Manchester United and Chelsea have scored fewer goals all season.

The Roosters are again troubled by their defence. In six of their last eight competitive games they have scored at least twice, right-back Emerson Royal in particular has struggled. With 21 goals conceded, Tottenham have the worst defensive record in the Top 8.

Considering Brentford’s goal scoring woes, the form that Argentine Cristian Romero brought back from the World Cup and the long-term phase of Kane, I think Tottenham will win.
