Brentford, as Premier League newcomers last season, saved themselves among the elite with relative ease, winning a valuable draw at Leicester’s ground to start the new season, despite still being two goals down in the 60th minute.
Manchester, on the other hand, played at home and Erik ten Hague’s debut did not go well at all. The Red Devils were also down 0:2, but unlike Brentford they only reduced the score and after the 1:2 result there were logical whistles at Old Trafford.
The biggest star of the home team is Ivan Toney, the club’s top scorer last year and the year before, who also hit the Leicester net. Bryan Mbeumo, who changed his citizenship to Cameroonian before the upcoming World Cup in Qatar, should help him from the wing.
On the away side, it is obligatory to mention Cristiano Ronaldo, who netted 24 goals and assisted three times last season. Big things are also expected from Jadon Sancho, who is facing his second season in the British Isles, as well as summer signing Christian Eriksen.
Brentford hasn’t been too successful offensively, scoring more than once in just one of their last four games.
However, the same can be said of Manchester City, who were really lacklustre against Brighton, scoring only twice in their last three games.
Despite Manchester’s poor start to the season, I think the visitors will win thanks to Ronaldo. Last year they scored five goals in total against Brentford.
