Brentford open the new Premier League season at their stadium, welcoming the famous Arsenal. Both teams would like to start with a win, will Mikel Arteta’s charges confirm their role as favourites?
Brentford open the new Premier League season at their stadium, welcoming the famous Arsenal. Both teams would like to start with a win, will Mikel Arteta’s charges confirm their role as favourites?
Brentford have taken their preparation for a season among the elite seriously, arranging six friendlies, winning four of them. They drew 2-2 with a strong Manchester United side and even beat Spanish side Valencia 2-1.
Arsenal, on the other hand, can’t boast too much this summer. It lost to Hibernian 1:2, then drew 2:2 with Rangers and then lost the London derby to both Chelsea (1:2) and Tottenham (0:1).
The mainstay of the home team is Ivan Toney, the burly playmaker became the Championship’s top scorer last season. The presence of Bryan Mbeum or Sergi Canos will certainly spice up the Premier League.
Arsenal have brought in some interesting signings this summer, Ben White has solidified the defensive line, Albert Lokonga should replace Ceballos and when you add names like Bukayo Saka and Kieran Tierney, the Canaries are a pretty interesting team.
Brentford relies on a functioning offense, scoring at least two goals in six of their last eight games.
Although Arsenal are often criticized for the work of the defense, last year they got the fewest goals in the league after Manchester City and Chelsea, 39 to be exact.
Given the quality of both teams’ offenses, I think both teams will score.
