Brentford made it through Saturday’s EFL Championship final and are heading to the Premier League for the first time in their history after a 2-0 win over Swansea. What are the mainstays of this English team with a big Scandinavian presence?

Brentford’s biggest star last season was Ivan Toney. The English playmaker scored a whopping thirty-three goals and collected ten assists. Strong, fast, incisive, it will be crucial for Brentford to keep him around this summer.

Toney was helped a lot by his French teammate Bryan Mbeumo, the youth international contributed eight goals and twelve assists to the progression. He scored the most important one in the final game against Swansea on a 2-0 goal. He excels in speed, reading the game and good kicking technique.

In attack we will stay, the Spaniard Sergi Canós complemented the aforementioned duo perfectly. He had a breakthrough season, scoring nine times and assisting nine times. Low center of gravity, quick feet, the opposing defense has a lot to look forward to.

Mathias Jensen, one of eight Danes in Brentford’s wider squad, has also had a great season. Two goals and seven assists even got him into the national team, which speaks volumes about his qualities. His passes have eyes and who knows how many goals Toney would have scored without him.

Mads Bech Sörensen also wears the Danish national jersey, albeit under-21. This stopper shone at the Youth Euro and at 22 years old is a regular in the starting line-up. His price has quadrupled since the start of the season and the Bees hope he will continue to grow during his Premier League engagement.
