Brenda Fruhvirt succeeded. In her first appearance at a WTA tournament in Guadalajara, Mexico, she made it through qualifying and will play in the main stage of the competition. Her older sister Linda, who dominated the ITF tournament, was also successful.

Only 14-year-old Brenda Fruhvirt first defeated former WTA number 5 player Sara Errani of Italy in the first round of qualifying. She then defeated Switzerland’s Kung in the final qualifying round.

The match lasted just 59 minutes. Brenda lost her own serve three times in the match. But her opponent couldn’t win a single game the whole match. Fruhvirt won in two sets 6: 2, 6: 1.

In the first round of the main competition, the Czech hope will face a really big opponent. It will be American Sloane Stephens. The former world number three is currently ranked 56th in the WTA rankings.

Last season, the American player had a negative record on the hard surface of 13-15. She has played only one match so far this season and that was in the first round of the Australian Open, in which she lost to Britain’s Raducanu.

The experienced Stephens will be the favourite in this match. However, there is a question mark over her form and current state of mind. Let’s see if Brenda can surprise another big name in the tennis world. The match starts tonight at 11:00 p.m.

Linda, the older of the Fruhvirt sisters, has also been doing well. She has managed to dominate an ITF tournament for the first time this season. In Cancun, Mexico, she also beat two second-ranked players and former top 50 players.

She did not lose a set on her way to the title at the $25,000 tournament and her campaign was taken away in the final by former world No. 38, Canadian Rebecca Marin.

Linda lost only one game in the match and defeated the Canadian player in 81 minutes 6: 3, 6: 4. This is her third ITF title, last year the 16-year-old hopeful won two tournaments in Monastir, Tunisia.
