The Fruhvirt sisters, the hopes of Czech women’s tennis, have been playing in great form in recent weeks. Brenda got a wild card for the tournament in Guadalajara and scored a valuable scalp in the first round of qualification. Her older sister Linda will fight today in the final of the ITF tournament.

At 14, Brenda Fruhvirt continues to amaze the tennis world. In the last two weeks, she first managed to dominate two ITF tournaments in a row. Then came her first big chance, when she got a wild card into her first WTA tournament.

In the first round of qualifying, she faced the highly experienced Italian Sara Errani. The former No. 5 player in the WTA rankings was ranked 145th at the time of the match. But Brenda did not shy away from the big name and defeated the Italian player in three sets 7::6, 3::6 and 6::2.

In the first set, both players took service until the score was 4::4, then the match went to a tiebreak, where the Czech hope was more successful, winning in a shortened game 7::2. In the second set, however, the 34-year-old Italian was more successful, winning the second set 6: 3.

In the third deciding set, Brenda lost the first game. From that moment on, however, only one player was on court and after 38 minutes the final qualifying round was decided.

There, Brenda Fruhvirt will face Swiss Kung, who is ranked 315th in the WTA rankings. She plays more ITF tournaments, where she regularly finishes in the first round and at the tournament in Mexico she scored only her first win in the current season.

The match against the Swiss starts at 18:00. The favourite is the promising Brenda, who is in great form and should have no problem with the lacklustre Kung.

But older sister Linda Fruhvirt is also doing well. Also in Mexico, this time in Cancun, she reached the ITF final. She hasn’t lost a set on her way to the final. In the first round she defeated the 176th player in the world, the American Parks.

In the semi-finals, she took her match against Germany’s Vecic in complete calmness, beating her opponent 6:1, 6:0. In the final, she will face Canadian player Rebecca Marin, who is currently ranked 161st.

The former 38th player in the world managed to reach the first round of the Australian Open this season, where she was eliminated by Maria Bouzkova. In the first tournament held in Cancun, she dropped out only in the semifinals.

Linda is not expecting an easy match, the Canadian has a 10:3 record this year and will be looking to make amends after dropping out of the semi-finals last week. The match starts at 17:00.
