Well done! Jaroslav Šilhavý presented the nomination of the Czech national football team for the upcoming EURO 2024 qualification matches with Poland and Moldova and definitely surprised. The nomination included 6 newcomers and several youngsters.

After the unsuccessful qualification for the World Cup and with the new cycle ahead of EURO 2024 approaching, it was time to rejuvenate the national team a bit and call up new faces who can pull the national team through in the coming years.

Jaroslav Šilhavy has often been criticised for being too pragmatic and only calling up older, proven players. But now he has shown the whole football nation that he has the courage to bet on youngsters before the new cycle.

For example, Martin Vitík (20), David Jurásek (22), Matěj Jurásek (19), Tomáš Čvančara (22) and Mojmír Chytil (23) made the national team. The nomination also includes two other newcomers David Douděra from Slavia and Lukáš Sadílek from Sparta.

“We enter the qualification with a clear goal to advance. We have decided tocall up and give a chance to younger players who are in good shape in the league and also have the potential to become the mainstays of the national team in the future,” said coach Šilhavý at the press conference.

“Patrik Schick and Vladimir Coufal are in the nomination despite health problems. In the next few days we will see if we can count on them. That’s why there are twenty-five players in the nomination this time, two more than usual,” explains national team manager Tomáš Pešír.

The Czech national team will play Poland on 24 March in Eden, three days later they will play Moldova in Chisinau. The group will also include Faroe Islands, Montenegro and Albania.

The national team also includes captain Tomáš Souček, as well as foreign players Adam Hložek, Antonín Barák, Jakub Brabec and Alex Král. Jiří Pavlenka, Jindřich Staněk and Tomáš Vaclík will compete for the number one goalkeeper position.
