Wednesday’s Champions League programme will feature, among other things, a match between Braga and Napoli. While for the home side, qualification to the group is a historic achievement, the visitors plan to go even further after last year’s quarter-final.

Braga are not in the best of moods at the start of the season, having won only one of their last three games, but on the other hand they have achieved their main goal of qualifying for the Champions League. From eighth place they are six points behind the top of the table.

Napoli’s season is off to a less than ideal start. It has taken seven points from four rounds, which is enough for fifth place and five points behind the leader. Nevertheless, the Italian champion is one of the candidates for the overall victory.

Braga’s key figures

The home side is paced by winger Pizzi, the Portuguese international is on three goals and one assist after returning from the Emirates. Team captain Ricardo Horta is the master of the pass, currently boasting a 2+6 record.

Napoli’s key figures

The home side’s biggest offensive weapon is hitman Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian striker is on three goals in the league. Italian winger Matteo Politano is also in decent form, with one assist in addition to two shots.

Prediction

Braga are extremely troubled defensively, with ten goals conceded, making them the worst in the Top 12 of the Portuguese league. It has kept a clean sheet in only two of its nine games this season – against Panathinaikos and Bacca Topol.

On the other hand, Napoli’s offense has been on fire, thanks to Osimhen, scoring more than once in four of the last five games. Last year, they averaged over two goals per round in the league, and no key players left the offensive line over the summer.

Considering Braga’s unreliable defence, on the contrary, Napoli’s rampant attack and Osimhen’s individual quality, I think the Italian side can win on Portuguese soil.

Betting tip l Napoli to win
