Czech tennis player Marie Bouzkova travelled to the United States before the Paris Grand Slam to attend her university graduation and receive her bachelor’s degree.

Marie Bouzková studied at the American university Indiana University East, where she successfully completed her studies in business with a focus on sports marketing management and came to the graduation ceremony to receive her bachelor’s degree.

She had to trade graduation for a preparatory tournament in Rome before Roland Garros and a few points in the WTA rankings. Still, Bouzkova didn’t think long about attending graduation.

“The decision was quite easy for me, graduation is once in a lifetime. I bought the dress last year, so I knew I would go. I was just relieved that it didn’t coincide with the Grand Slam, I don’t know what I would have done. I’m glad it worked out,” said the Czech tennis player according to TenisPortal.

Since Bouzkova studied her field online, she also enjoyed meeting her professors directly. “I am happy that I made this trip. I spent the whole day on campus, then we had graduation. I met five hundred other students. It was also nice to see the professors, I had never met them in person, now we had a chance to talk a little bit,” Bouzková revealed of her important day.

Marie Bouzková will of course make a living from tennis, but she does not want to rely on it fully, so she decided to study at university. According to her, she enjoyed the experience.

Indiana University East is a partner of the WTA, so Bouzkova is not the first tennis player to study there. Venus Williams and Leylah Fernandez, for example, have successfully studied their majors at this university.
