The event, called the Western & Southern Open, will offer the battles of the top sixteen in both the men’s and women’s parts of the singles pavilion starting at 5 pm CET on Thursday. We can also look forward to one Czech entry. The men’s tournament will be broadcast on Eurosport 2, while the women’s matches can be watched on O2 TV Tennis.
The world number one will challenge the young Canadian
The men’s eighth round promises some interesting confrontations. The ATP ranking leader Daniil Medvedev will face the twenty-three-year-old Denis Shapovalov from Canada to advance to the next stage. Among the other duels, let’s mention for example the clash between the seeded seven and ten, i.e. the talented youngsters Félix Auger-Aliassime and Jannik Sinner.
The matches between the home team’s Taylor Fritz and Russia’s Andrey Rublyov, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Diego Schwartzman, and Marin Cilic and the star teenager Carlos Alcaraz are also worth mentioning. The American derby is a clash of tennis generations played by Korda and Isner.

Kvitova to face Wimbledon finalist
For a long time now, the WTA women’s circuit has been more interesting for the domestic tennis fan to watch, given the results. One Czech singles player will play in the eighth finals in Cincinnati. Petra Kvitova will face the current world number five and the loser of this year’s Wibledon final, Ons Djabour from Tunisia, right from 5 pm.
In case of advancing to the quarterfinals, the two-time winner of the grass grand slam would face Tomljanovic or Kudermetova. The first player of the current world ranking Iga Świąteková will challenge Madison Keys of the USA in the eighth round. Estonian Kontaveit, currently ranked second in the singles rankings, will play China’s Zhang Shuai.
