Boston will also lose another center. Krejci will probably end up in the NHL, but would like to play at the World Championship in Prague

Probably no general manager in the NHL at this point envies his colleague Don Sweeney. Boston’s GM is likely to lose two elite centers, as David Krejci is expected to announce the end after Patrice Bergeron.

For many years, Boston had a lock on center. The elite center was the leader and later captain Patrice Bergeron, the role of the outstanding second center was filled by David Krejci except last season.

But it couldn’t last forever and the Bruins are in for a big shock. Already last week, the 38-year-old Patrice Bergeron announced the end of his career, and David Krejci’s future was still unclear.

After a record-breaking season and a bitterly disappointing playoff run, the Czech forward made it clear there were only two options. Either he continues in Boston or he retires.

However, he later modified his words and did not rule out a return to the Extraliga, as the big attraction for him is the home World Championship in Prague, where there will be a great atmosphere. However, he has already made it clear that he will not be able to start the season and will join one of the teams in the autumn or around Christmas.

Now it is a bit clearer. Journalist Law Murphys from the Bostonhockeynow came up with the information that Krejci will soon announce the end of his NHL and club hockey career, but that he could still represent the Czech Republic at the World Championship in Prague.

In fact, if he signs with Boston and the Bruins go far in the playoffs, he would miss out on the World Championship, which is practically the only reason to extend his career.

Boston, however, has an extremely difficult job to replace its first two centers. A lot of space could be given to Pavel Zacha, who is now considered by many to be the new number one center.
