The Boston Bruins fell again in overtime, this time to Philadelphia, who showed a greater desire to win. And Tyson Foerster decided the game in overtime. The Flyers gained important points in the fight for the playoffs.

The Bruins never led once in the game

In the game Philadelphia Flyers vs Boston Bruins (3:2), which ended in overtime, the favored Boston team pulled the weak end all game long. Philadelphia was aware that they must not lose any more points. Because unlike Boston, they are not guaranteed to make the playoffs.

The Flyers have made things a bit difficult for themselves with their fluctuating form in recent games. And they gave the Washington Capitals, in particular, a chance to almost finish it off in points. During the first period, cautious hockey was played, with both goalies Samuel Ersson in the Flyers’ goal and Linus Ullmark in the Bruins’ goal not capitulating.

Philadelphia was the first to open the scoring in the 39th minute when Travis Konecny took advantage of a power play after Peeke was sent off, scoring his 29th goal of the season. The scalded Bruins tied the game in the 51st minute when Ersson was beaten by Justin Brazeau.

Philadelphia soon responded, however, when Konecny beat Ullmark for the second time in the game to cross the 30-goal line for the second time in his career. Boston didn’t give up, however, and Danton Heinen tied the game at 56:12 to make it 2-2. The score did not change for the rest of the game.

Boston again played overtime

And so Boston went through overtime again. This season they are already a specialist in this situation. As almost half of the games this season the Bruins could not decide until the 60th minute. Of course, the stumbling block for Boston is the fact that they don’t win many games in this situation.

The game against the Flyers was a case in point, as they showed more desire to win. Knowing that they had to get an extra point, Tyson Foerster decided the game for the home team in the 62nd minute with his 18th goal of the season. Konecny became the first Flyers player to score at least 30 goals in a season two seasons in a row.

The last time captain Sean Coutier accomplished the feat was in 2017-18 and 2018-19. David Pastrňák ended an eight-game streak in which he managed to score against Philadelphia, collecting 11 goals and seven assists.
