Bone fragments, fractures or a horrifying MotoGP accident! This could have ended even worse, knows Joan Mir

The MotoGP royal cubature had its thirteenth round of the season on Sunday, namely the Austrian Grand Prix. However, it will not only be remembered fondly by the entire Suzuki team, but especially by rider Joan Mir. He crashed out on the first lap of the race, causing himself some serious injuries.

Spanish Suzuki rider Joan Mir had a terrifying moment in Austria when he retired from the 13th MotoGP race of the year on the first lap.

In fact, he suffered this accident at Turn 4, which you can see in the attached Twitter post below.

Mir had started the Austrian Grand Prix from eighth position, and after the start, he moved up to sixth. However, after a few seconds came that incriminating moment, after which the Spaniard feared he had suffered a fractured ankle.

“Mir took off quickly and was getting into the mix of the other riders when his bike shot him into the air and he suffered a hard landing in the duck. He was immediately rushed to the medical centre where an X-ray confirmed a fracture and broken bones in the ankle area. He will undergo further checks and an MRI on Monday to rule out ligament damage,” his team, Suzuki Ecstar, said on the MotoGP website.

“I had a big accident in turn four. I lost my rear end and suffered a high side. But it could have been worse, so I was lucky. Initial checks showed some fragments and a fracture in my ankle. Tomorrow I will undergo further checks and an MRI,” Mir said on the Suzuki Ecstar Twitter account.

However, this injury should not limit him in terms of the future. Not as far as transfer matters are concerned. With Suzuki’s departure from MotoGP, according to the latest information, Mir is already virtually agreed with the Repsol Honda team and is only waiting for an official announcement.

For now, however, let’s wish the Spanish rider a speedy recovery. Nevertheless, Francesco Bagnaia won the Austrian Grand Prix and achieved his third consecutive victory. Reigning World Champion Fabio Quartararo finished second, with Jack Miller in third.
