Bitter win! Pale showed great talent even overseas and destroyed her older opponent. But she didn’t get a UFC contract. Why?
Tereza Bledá had a very important match on Tuesday night, in which she fought for her dream. At the age of 20, she was given the opportunity to get into the UFC. She was up against a tougher opponent, but she handled her opponent in a completely dominant performance.
Tereza Bledá had a very important match on Tuesday night, in which she fought for her dream. At the age of 20, she was given the opportunity to get into the UFC. She was up against a tougher opponent, but she handled her opponent in a completely dominant performance.
The 20-year-old Czech is one of the greatest talents of our MMA scene, if not the greatest. It has been her dream to make it to the UFC and now she’s got the chance to make it happen.
Tereza Bledá was introduced as the Octagon champion on Dana White’s Contender Series show, fighting a Brazilian 12 years older than her. That was Nayara Arnault Maia Correia. It was a big test for the talented fighter, but she put up a great fight.
In all rounds the Czech fighter managed to dominate. She landed more than 100 punches on the ground alone. She added a few more in the stand-up, even sent Maia to the ground. Although the Brazilian looked more technical, Bledá had the upper hand and defended all her submission attempts.
In total, according to official UFC stats, she landed 126 strikes, while only landing 27. On the ground, she controlled the fight for 11 minutes and 4 seconds, while Maia didn’t even have control for 2 minutes.
After the fight, although she was disappointed that she didn’t finish her opponent, she was dominant with all the judges and won by a tally of 30 to 26.
Bledá then told the UFC boss that she was the next generation of MMA fighters and hoped to see a contract. And rightfully so. Even commentator and UFC legend Daniel Cormier was thrilled with her performance.
But against all odds, the 20-year-old fighter didn’t get a contract. The reason? Organization boss Dana White believes she still needs to gain more experience.
However, it’s great for Bleda that she has maintained her unbeaten record. She will remain in the organization’s crosshairs and it’s possible that she could see a contract from another major organization. Octagon won’t want to lose her though.
