Lucie Pudilova is one of the most famous female MMA fighters in the country, not to mention that her career is really rich. The twenty-seven year old fighter was the first Czech woman in the UFC, after returning to domestic waters she has started to thrive again and there is still a chance for a comeback. What is her story?
Lucie Pudilova had her first fight in professional MMA in February 2014, when she defeated Lenka Smetanka by TKO. Her first success was winning the GCF bantamweight title.
Pudilova held a 6:1 streak, which made her get noticed by the famous American organization UFC. Pudilova became the first ever Czech woman to sign a contract with the organization.
She lost her first fight in the UFC on points to Lina Lansberg, but won her next two on points, against Ji Yeon Kim and Sarah Moras.
But that was the end of her UFC wins. Pudilova lost 4 more fights, including the one with Liz Carmouche at the tournament in Prague. So after that ugly streak, she’s done in the UFC with the UFC Fight Night 166 tournament in January 2020.
Pudilova eventually decided to take advantage of the offer from the Octagon and fight at home in the Czech Republic. Her first fight came in December of that year when she took on Cornelia Holm.
Pudilova also defeated Marta Waliczek and Maija Suotamova and as time went on, she moved closer to a title shot and a possible offer from the world organization.
But her next opponent was Talita Bernard, who beat her on points. The streak was broken and with it a possible title fight. However, she came slightly closer again, defeating Waliczek again in her last match.
Before the match, the native of Pribram continued her cooperation with the famous SBG gym and John Kavanagh, which probably helped a lot. Before the Oktagon 30 tournament, she asked for a title shot with Lucie Szabova, but Oktagon hasn’t heard her wish yet.
