Big summer sale? Chelsea plans big purge, up to 8 star players could leave!
A lot has been written about Chelsea in recent days. If only because it spent more money on January transfers than four European leagues combined. And also because it has brought in more reinforcements than it has won games. In any case, the London giant now has three starting elevens to build. But it won’t be like this forever, because there’s a big sell-off coming in the summer.

What more to add to the London club. We wrote recently that Chelsea have such a loaded squad that they could easily field three starting elevens.
We have also reported that Chelsea have spent more on transfers than the Bundesliga, LA Liga, Ligue 1 and Serie A combined.
And we’ve also taken a look at what the buzz in England has been about lately. Just about, for example, the fact that Chelsea have had more signings than they’ve managed to win games.
The latest information, however, from British newspaper The Guardian, is that Chelsea are planning a major purge. Thus, in the summer, all fans should witness a big sell-off, and it will be a ruthless sacking.
Lukaku, Aubameyang or Kovacic. Who will be out?
Chelsea have brought in a really big number of players recently, so some sort of summer purge is a perfectly logical outcome. And it will affect several stars.
Already in January, Hakim Ziyech, whose services were sought by PSG, was supposed to leave at least on loan. However, the teams sent the documents needed for the transfer only after the transfer window had expired. The deal was therefore null and void. However, Ziyech should definitely leave in the summer.
Next up, according to reports from the aforementioned British newspaper, will be Romelu Lukaku, who is currently on loan at Inter Milan. However, he has only registered a single goal in eight league games.
Chelsea are also reportedly not counting on Callum Hudson-Odoi, who, like Lukaku, will return at the end of June from a loan spell at Leverkusen. Christian Pulisic, who has played 16 games for the London club, but in many cases has come off the bench.
Also on the list of potential departures is Mateo Kovacic, who joined the Blues in 2019 when he transferred from Real Madrid. While he has featured in the starting line-up much more often than the 24-year-old American in the current campaign, Chelsea can still cash in a hefty sum for him in the summer.
His market value is still high at €40 million. Pulisic is then worth two million euros less.
That leaves three names – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Kalidou Koulibaly and Ben Chilwell. Manchester City have shown interest in the latter, with 31-year-old Koulibaly making 14 appearances and starting in the starting eleven almost every time.
Taken 33-year-old Aubameyang has downright disappointed. He scored only one goal in eleven league games, and made six starts in the starting line-up in the Champions League, where he netted two goals. Fortunately, however, Chelsea didn’t spend any money on him, namely 12 million euros.
