Big losses for AC Milan: two major stars are leaving!
AC Milan is still counting the losses. While several players are leaving the club, the Rossoneri haven’t signed anyone proper, apart from the Lille goalkeeper. Which two stars are on their way out?
AC Milan is still counting the losses. While several players are leaving the club, the Rossoneri haven’t signed anyone proper, apart from the Lille goalkeeper. Which two stars are on their way out?
AC Milan, as far as player transfers are concerned, have little to boast about so far. Already last month, the club declared that they would not extend the contract of Mario Mandzukic. Recently, the Milanese big club did not even agree on a new contract with David Calabria, who is demanding a significant increase in his earnings.
And it is also likely that the Italian side will lose Diego Laxalt, who has returned from a loan spell at Celtic in Scotland. Two clubs are interested in his services – Besiktas and FC Porto.
The only thing AC management has managed to do so far is to make the situation with young defender Fikay Tomori permanent. The player, who is still a Chelsea tribal player, will cost the Milanese big club 25 million pounds, according to Portuguese newspaper Abola. Tomori, however, has not been a difference player for AC in the already past season.
However, we must also not forget that AC Milan managed to acquire the goalkeeper from championship-winning Lille, Mike Maignan. He played 48 games for the French team last season and became a significant figure on the way to the title. Maignan joins AC Milan from Lille for €13 million.
The club’s management has clearly managed to eliminate a significant loss with this transfer in the form of the almost certain departure of Gianluigi Donnarumma.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the very talented Italian goalkeeper will leave for PSG in the summer transfer window. And, of course, for free as a free agent, as his contract is up at Milan.
The French club is already very close to signing. It is said to be a contract until June 2026 with a salary of around twelve million euros per season. Over the next five years, Donnarumma is expected to earn around €60 million.
Well, another player who is expected to leave the San Siro is Hakan Calhanoglu. He is ready to be signed by Arsenal London, who in recent days were blown away by Aston Villa’s Emiliano Buendia.
the 27-year-old midfielder, who is still wearing the Rossoneri jersey, will see his contract expire and become a free agent, just like in the case of Donnarumma. Gunners fans see the Turkish international as a great alternative.
AC have had two failed transfers in the previous days. First, there were concrete negotiations between the Milanese outfit and Olivier Giroud. However, the French international decided to extend his contract at Chelsea.
Most recently, Milan tried to lure Alejandro Papua Gómez, who is currently at the service of Spanish side Sevilla. However, even he did not resort to leaving his current employer.
The Italian giant will have its hands full in the summer transfer window. Not only do they need to plug the holes in their midfield, AC also need to strengthen, and badly. The Champions League awaits them, for one thing.
And secondly, there were various shortcomings in the second half of the current season, especially in defence and midfield. So let’s hope that the next few weeks will be marked by arrivals.
