Experienced coach Leoš Kalvoda, who led Sigma Olomouc, Slovácko and Mladá Boleslav in our top competition, will be giving advice in the regional championship. What do the club expect from him?
The sixty-four-year-old coach, who last worked as an assistant for the second league team Líšná, will coach Bohuňovice, who finished thirteenth in the Olomouc regional championship last season.
The club needed a new impetus. The outgoing Jaromír Lukášek complained about the lack of players during the season and the signing of a lower competition was also in play. In the end, however, the regional championship stayed in the village with less than three thousand inhabitants.
It is not an unfamiliar environment for Kalvoda. He has already played at this address, so this is a big return for the fans.
“The negotiations were quite simple. He had coached us before. Back then we agreed that if he quit pro football, he would come back and help us with football in the village,” explained club chairman Jiří Jaroš.
Radek Drulák, Martin Kotůlek and Ladislav Kučerňák have been on the bench of the Olomouc team in recent years.
“Every time a new coach came in, it gave the boys a new charge, because every coach has his own methods, so he revived it,” Jaroš continued for the Olomouc daily .
“We promise that he will give the young boys a kick in the pants and also give a boost to all the players, ” he concluded. Only the championship matches will decide whether he will live up to the expectations. The opening competitive match is scheduled for the first weekend in August.
