After a two-week Christmas break, the Biathlon World Cup will make its fourth stop. In Oberhof, Germany, the athletes will take part in sprints, pursuit races and relays this week.

The elite series heads to the traditional biathlon bastion after the New Year. The venue of last year’s World Championships will host a three-day programme of races for the biathletes.

It was originally scheduled to start on Thursday with the men’s sprint. However, due to poor snow conditions, the organisers postponed the race until Friday morning. In the afternoon, the women will also take to the track.

As usual, the fastest biathlon discipline will be followed by the pursuit races on Saturday. The fourth part of the World Cup will then conclude on Sunday with the popular men’s and women’s quartet relays.

The Biathlon World Cup is led by Braisazova-Bouchet and Bø

The overall men’s World Cup standings are clearly dominated by the Norwegians. Johannes Thingnes Bø will wear the yellow jersey in Oberhof and is leading the ranking ahead of four of his compatriots.

The women’s ranking is currently led by France’s Braisaz-Bouchet with a ten-point lead over Norway’s Tandrevold.
