Arsenal entered the new Premier League season victorious, beating Crystal Palace 2-0 away from home. Then the Gunners scored another win, against Leicester (4: 2).
New signing Gabriel Jesus scored twice, Granit Xhaka once and Gabriel Martinelli made the final 4:2 in the 75th minute.
Last weekend, Arsenal travelled to Bournemouth, where Arsenal again took all three points thanks to a smooth 3:0 victory (two goals by Martin Ødegaard, the third by William Saliba).
And in the fourth round of the English top flight Arsenal took on Fulham, but first the team from the Emirates Stadium was losing. In the 56th minute he took a gifted chance and made no mistake in finishing.
Eight minutes later, however, the game was tied again. Ødegaard fired from the edge of the penalty area and the ball ended up in the net. Arsenal decided the match in the 85th minute when Gabriel scored in the penalty area – 2: 1.
The team believed…
“To win in such a way is really great. First we made a mistake and they punished us for it, but the way we reacted to adversity, the connection with the fans, the way we went for the equaliser, the team simply believed,” Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta said in an interview with Sky Sports.
Arsenal thus have the full number of points (12) after four Premier League matches, a feat last managed by the Gunners in the 2003/04 season. And it is this season that has gone down in very bold letters in Arsenal’s history.
The London side finished the 2003/04 season without a single defeat and with 90 points. The then Invincibles celebrated the championship title.
The Gunners also won their opening four games of the 2004/05 season. However, Arsenal finished that season in second place with 83 points. In the previous season, although the Arteta side finished fifth with 69 points, they are now on course for a great season as they lead the Premier League table with 12 points.
