Benzema was almost denied entry to Stamford Bridge, where he later scored a hat-trick to down Chelsea

Karim Benzema is probably still haunting Chelsea supporters in their nightmares after scoring a hat-trick at Stamford Bridge in the first Champions League quarter-final last week. But things could have been very different had the players not been allowed into the stadium.
Football fans still have in their minds another great performance by Karim Benzema, who has been in incredible form this season, which he confirmed last Wednesday in the quarter-final match at Chelsea Stadium.
In the first game played, he scored his second consecutive hat-trick in the millionaire competition and goes fearlessly for the Ballon d’Or. But everything could have been very different if the player had not entered the match, which was real.
In fact, there was a ridiculous situation before the match when the security at Stamford Bridge refused to let the French cannonballer into the stadium. The reason was supposed to be the fact that the star striker did not have the proper accreditation to enter the famous shrine.
Spanish newspaper Marca published a video of the incident, where he and his teammate Eduardo Camavinga and coach Carlo Ancelotti get off the bus and are stopped by security.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti even spoke about the said situation in the post-match press conference. “Before the game, Benzema was unable to find his accreditation to enter the stadium,” the Italian strategist confirmed according to Marca.
“Find it quickly or you can’t play,” Ancelotti had to tell the star striker, who eventually found it after a frantic search.
As we have seen several times in the ongoing season, Real Madrid without their long-time mainstay is not the same team and has problems not only in finishing. The situation in such a tense match and at such a level is almost comical.
Tomorrow we will find out if Benzema can build on his outstanding performances and send his Real Madrid into the Champions League semi-finals.
