In the summer, the departures to Saudi Arabia have been ripped apart. However, it seems that many footballers are not happy there and would like to return to Europe. One of them is Karim Benzema, who sabotaged his team’s training camp.

Karim Benzema was the winner of the Ballon d’Or in 2022. And was thus considered one of the best footballers in the world. But in the summer of 2023, he decided to listen to the lure of Saudi Arabia. And eventually chose the Al Ittihad team.

In doing so, he became one of the many star players in the local league, emulating Cristiano Ronaldo, who was a pioneer in this regard. But big money does not necessarily mean satisfaction and Benzema is thinking of returning to Europe after six months.

While the 36-year-old striker has been making regular appearances and scoring goal after goal, he has now failed to turn up for a preparatory camp. According to MARCA, forcing him to be ruled out of the tour, which will take place in Dubai.

And it is not to be the first time that the French forward has made trouble and failed to turn up for an important meeting. That is why it is under discussion whether fans will ever see him in an Al Ittihad jersey again.

Will Benzema join Lyon?

He may have a contract at the club until 2026, but he is certainly not going to keep it. He would like to move this winter. And would probably like to visit Europe, but he will have to significantly reduce his wage demands.

There is speculation about Lyon, who are dealing with rescue problems caused by the sale of stars and the absence of European cups, from which the team previously had a lot of money.

Robert Firmino, who is unhappy at Al-Ahli, and Jordan Henderson, who played for Al-Ettifaq, are also on the way out. But their return to Liverpool would probably no longer make sense for the club.
