Benfica vs. PSG: Preview and betting tips

On Wednesday evening, Benfica and PSG will undoubtedly offer us beautiful football. Two teams that are 100% in this year’s Champions League. However, Messi and co. have been going through the season like a knife through butter so far and will be big favourites now.

Those who expected PSG and Benfica to be battling it out for top spot in Group H at the start of the Champions League group stage are now pleasantly surprised. However, the problems at Juventus have helped considerably and it can be counted on that the Old Lady has not yet said the last word.

That’s why it would be great for Benfica to score against the Parisian side as well. After all, we are talking about a team that has won the last 6 games in the Champions League. Moreover, the Portuguese don’t win by chance, they have always scored at least two goals in their last 7 games in the millionaire competition.

The fact that they were only stopped by Liverpool in the last Champions League, who first won 3-1 and then drew 3-3, is a testament to their quality. For PSG it will be a very tough match against a predatory team.

But the French are playing very well and their only loss was against Monaco, with whom they drew 1:1. Otherwise, they are picking up one win after another and nothing else is expected this Wednesday.

Benfica and PSG know each other quite well, perhaps it’s better to say knew them, having played a total of 9 games together since 2007. In fact, the last time they measured their strength in the Champions League was in 2013 when both teams won at home.

As far as this edition is concerned, both teams are 100 percent, with PSG scoring only one more goal and conceding one more on the other hand.

This double-duel will thus give a significant clue as to who will qualify, as it will most likely be all about whether Benfica can pick up some points to increase their lead over Juventus, who will be looking to snatch at least second place when key players recover and get their act together.

PSG are the favourites for this duel, but not the favourites many might expect. Odds of around 1.8 for the visitors to win match the Portuguese side’s strength at home.

Personally, I would rather believe that we will see more than two goals, but the odds for that are 1.5, which is not very favorable given the fact that both teams boast a quality defensive.
