Benfica as a role model. With the transfer of Ramos, he will earn another bundle for the offspring or cheaply bought reinforcements

Benfica Lisbon can be a model for Europe on how to make big money fast. For the second summer in a row, the Portuguese club has sold its striker for €80 million to one of Europe’s giants.

PSG’s new coach, Luis Enrique, has a tough task ahead of him. Before the start of the new season, he has to deal with putting together a completely new attack after Lionel Messi did not renew his contract with the club and Kylian Mbappé was dropped from the squad.

The French champion is currently finalising the last details of the arrival of Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembélé, whose arrival should be a matter of time.

His arrival is not the only one PSG is working on. Fabrizio Romano reported on his Twitter account that Portuguese midfielder Gonçalo Ramos is also very close to a transfer to the French capital.

A deal is imminent and we just need to work out the last details of the transfer, which could be completed this week. The transfer itself, with possible bonuses, should be worth up to €80 million.

Ramos will thus be another great deal for the Portuguese team, whose work in the transfer market is breathtaking.

Benfica Lisbon has produced countless footballers for world football. The last huge transfer by the Portuguese club was in January this year, when Enzo Fernandez headed to Chelsea in London for 120 million euros. He arrived in Lisbon just six months earlier for 44 million euros.

Last summer, Benfica sold Darwin Núñez to Liverpool for 80 million euros. Two years earlier, he came from Almería for 34 million euros. The best transfer remains the departure of the offspring of João Félix, for whom Atlético Madrid paid 127 million euros.

Benfica also made excellent deals with Manchester City, to whom they sold Ruben Dias for 68 million euros and Ederson for 40 million euros. Other big sales include Renato Sanches (35 million euros), Nemanja Vidic (25 million euros), Axel Witsel (40 million euros), Fabio Coentrao (30 million euros) and Ángel Di María (33 million euros).

For footballers, a stint at Benfica can be a great stepping stone to an even more illustrious engagement. A Czech fan would certainly be pleased if a similar fate were to befall David Jurásek.
