Ben Foster on Sancho: Do it under Sir Alex, he won’t play again
It’s no secret that Sir Alex Ferguson could be a tough and uncompromising manager and ruling with an iron hand was not a problem for him. Ben Foster, his former charge, revealed how the legendary coach would handle the current situation surrounding Jadon Sancho.
It’s no secret that Sir Alex Ferguson could be a tough and uncompromising manager and ruling with an iron hand was not a problem for him. Ben Foster, his former charge, revealed how the legendary coach would handle the current situation surrounding Jadon Sancho.
It’s been lively around Manchester United lately. After the loss to Arsenal, even Jadon Sancho has added fuel to the fire, taking to social media to hit back at coach Ten Hag.
He left him out of the squad for the game, allegedly because of his poor performance in training. Sancho subsequently said in a statement that the Dutch coach was not telling the truth and was making him a scapegoat.
The situation was (and still is) much discussed in the English media. Former Manchester United and England national team goalkeeper and current youtuber and podcaster Ben Foster discussed it on his channel Cycling GK.
“It’s absolutely crazy. If he did it under Alex Ferguson, that’s the end of him at the club. Not only would he not play, he wouldn’t even look at the training centre,” Foster said on his show.
“It’s insulting and disrespectful, it’s being talked about everywhere and everybody is now asking what’s happened to Sancho, what’s happened to Ten Hag and whether he’s lost the booth yet.”
Although Sir Alex Ferguson is no longer at the club, it is not impossible that he will suffer the same fate under Ten Hag. While the Dutch coach has reportedly agreed with the club not to publicly respond to Sancho’s comments for the time being, that certainly doesn’t mean the situation is resolved.
Ten Hag has proven on several occasions in the past that he can be a very strict manager and Sancho’s departure from Old Trafford is therefore a very real possibility. What is certain is that the club’s management will not be bored during the national break.
