French newspaper L’Equipe has come out in the last few hours with the news that former PSG player Hatem Ben Arfa has partially won the court case. The club will thus have to pay him a rather hefty compensation.
The French Ligue 1 giant was guilty of moral harassment against Ben Arfa and also unpaid bills.
Paris Saint-Germain has been ordered to pay the Clamart native 100 thousand euros in compensation. In our currency, this amounts to around CZK 2 350 000.
The now thirty-six-year-old offensive midfielder was with the Parisian outfit between 2016 and 2018. However, he spent his entire second and final season in the capital as a cast-off and left when his contract expired.
The reason for his expulsion were alleged remarks made about the Qatari Emir. These angered PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi so much that he dropped Ben Arfa from the team completely.
In addition, Ben Arfa had previously submitted a lawsuit that said he could still collect performance bonuses for the period in which the club’s management had resorted to his expulsion.
The amount of the compensation should have been up to seven million euros, but the court did not grant it to that extent and awarded the aforementioned 100,000. Ben Arfa can thus describe this victory as partial.
He played a total of 32 games for PSG, scoring four goals and assisting seven more. After he left the club from the capital of France he changed several other teams. Rennes, Valladolid, Bordeaux and Lille.
However, he left the latter club in July last year and has been without a contract since then.
