It’s clear why Real Madrid want to bring in Jude Bellingham at any cost. He’s an extraordinary talent who has the whole world interested and a big future ahead of him.
Plus, with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, no matter how it may seem on the pitch, getting older and having what is probably their last season ahead of them. So Real are looking for a replacement rather than a forward.
But for next season, both of these two stalwarts will 99% continue and add one last year at the Madrid big club. At that point, though, there would be a bit of a glut in the middle of the park.
In fact, besides Kroos and Modric, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde are also available. All young players who are giving great performances. And we mustn’t forget Dani Ceballos either, although the arrival of Bellingham would probably mean his departure.
However, how could Real assemble the midfield? Carlo Ancelotti will have several options at his disposal.
Indeed, it is hard to imagine that three players would have to remain on the bench. At the same time, Bellingham would not come in as a rotation player, but as a leader who will claim the starting line-up.
It is likely that a smaller role will be given to Modric, who will celebrate his 38th birthday in September. Although he is still putting in great performances, age doesn’t stop him and he can’t play everything. A similar scenario can be expected with Kroos.
Thus, the option of a young trio of Tchouaméni – Camavinga – Bellingham is in play, with Valverde moving to the wing, where he also features often. Or the Uruguayan could stay in the centre of midfield and Camavinga could move to left-back, where he is currently excelling.
Of course, the option of two icons with reinforcements is also in play, i.e. Kroos – Modric – Bellingham. Ancelotti could then go for a version with a mix of experience and predation, i.e. Kroos – Bellingham – Valverde.
The Real Madrid coach has several options and if indeed the 19-year-old Englishman does arrive at the Santiago Bernabéu, he will be in for a pleasant worry.
