Real Madrid made it to the Champions League final, beating Borussia Dormund 2-0. They were not the better team in the first half, but they came back later on and eventually won the match on merit.
Historically, this is the 15th Champions League trophy, more than double the number won by the second most successful team in the competition, AC Milan. They have won a total of 7 trophies.
Celebrating for the first time is 20-year-old midfielder Jude Bellingham, who was still running around in a rival’s jersey last season. And it was he who also thanked Borussia after the game, whose fans are not having the best of times right now.

“I have to be honest, they were the better team in the first half. They could have led by two or three goals, but it’s just about character… This can come back to bite you against Madrid,” Bellingham said after the game.
“I have huge respect for both clubs – the one I’m at now is as special to me as my former club,” added the English footballer, who wants to go for the trophy at the upcoming European Championships.
He then thanked his former club. “Without them it would not have been possible. I will always be grateful and I will always have respect for what the club did for me,” he added.
Bellingham scored 19 goals and assisted six in 28 league games last season and scored four times and assisted five times in 11 Champions League games.
