Sunday’s match against Belgium, in which the Czech team lost 0:3 to the home team, was an interesting story. However, three players scored their first start.
One of them was Jindřich Staněk, who had to start the game after less than a quarter of an hour due to an injury to his teammate Tomáš Vaclík.
And many fans were not happy with this substitution. They didn’t like the fact that Stanek wasn’t even catching in his Viktoria team, and he was missing from the nomination, which he was included only after the injury of his teammate Ondrej Kolar.
Staněk, however, had a good game and received the recognition of not only his former teammate Romel Lukaku, but also coach Roberto Martínez.
“That’s football. Life sometimes gives you such nice moments. Henry was very young when he came to Everton. He had some injuries, he never started for the A-team, but we had him in training a couple of times,” Martínez told a press conference.
“Even though he never appeared in the Premier League, I believed in his potential. I’m happy to see him on the pitch. Sometimes it happens that you have one goalkeeper drop out, then another, then another and suddenly you’re in goal. It must have been a great moment for Henry to be on the pitch against Lukaku or Hazard. He has a fantastic future,” he added.
