Paige VanZant was one of the biggest stars of the UFC, however, she left the biggest MMA organization in 2020, which was not a big surprise as she criticized the low payouts for fighters and fighters. Now, she has spoken out not only about her past in the UFC, but also her present.
Paige VanZant had 9 fights under the UFC banner with a positive 5:4 record. However, she herself went against the grain and tried to have as much side income as possible.
The poor pay conditions were one of the main reasons why she fought her last fight in the organization in 2020. However, quite quickly she got a lucrative contract in BKFC, an organization that organizes boxing fights without gloves.
In addition, she recently signed a long-term contract with All Elite Wrestling and is thus throwing herself into a career in professional wrestling as well. In addition, she has her own premium content website, so financially she is not in a bad way at all.
“I could retire tomorrow and be financially free and secure, and so could almost my children,” the former UFC fighter admitted her good financial situation on The Fighter vs. The Writer.
However, she says she owes it all to the UFC, which served as the springboard that made her famous. “I built my name there, I worked hard and I was dedicated. I went all in. I worked on self-promotion, I did everything I could to make myself a business brand,” she recalled of the UFC.
She said she would not return to the organization, though she holds no grudges against the UFC. On the contrary, though, she knows that leaving was the best move for her career. According to her, the UFC is a well-oiled machine, but the poor salaries have discouraged her.
After all, before her stint in the UFC, the American fighter already admitted that she earns more through Instagram than what she makes fighting in the world’s biggest MMA organization. However, she understands that it’s a business and that the UFC wants to keep as much money for itself as possible. That’s why she has made her personality a brand that will pull.
Furthermore, her contract with the BKFC gives her freedom, allowing her to do whatever she wants, something the UFC wouldn’t allow her to do. She’s glad she’s standing on her own two feet. She should be back in action soon just in the BKFC, and would like to make her wrestling debut by the end of the year.
“I don’t really have to do anything anymore. I do everything just because I love it. I have one of the best management teams in the world, it took them six months to make me a millionaire after moving to Florida. They feed my passion, I’m happy,” VanZant let slip.
But could this be the end? Nope, she says she’s just getting started. A return to MMA is also in the cards, though she’s not committing to it by any means. Currently
