Bayern’s quest for a tenth consecutive title began with a draw
Bayern Munich, who can win their tenth title in a row in the season that has just started, drew 1-1 with Borussia Mönchengladbach in their opening league match.
Bayern Munich, who can win their tenth title in a row in the season that has just started, drew 1-1 with Borussia Mönchengladbach in their opening league match.
The game was played on the pitch of Mönchengladbach. The home side took the lead right from the end. Plea scored in the 10th minute. Before the end of the first half, the visitors also scored. Robert Lewandowski equalised in the 42nd minute. No further goals were scored.
The Bavarian side entered the new league season with only a draw. However, this is not unexpected.
Under new coach Julian Nagelsmann, the German giant is still searching. In summer training, they lost three of their four games and drew one.
One positive for Bayern is that Robert Lewandowski has not fallen out of form. He has managed to reassert himself. Bayern can rely on him when they need him.
Another positive for Bayern is that young Stanišić played over 80 minutes. Last season he made his debut for Bayern’s first team and this season he started from the start in the first game.
Losing points in the first game doesn’t have to mean anything serious. The whole season is still to come. But Bayern will have to change their game and start scoring more goals if they want to defend their title again.
The Bavarian giant can improve their appetite as early as Tuesday. They face Borussia Dortmund in the German Super Cup, which Bayern is also defending.
