Bayern will have the chance to extend their lead at the top of the Bundesliga on Friday, welcoming Borussia Mönchengladbach at home. What to expect from a match between the in-form champions and the struggling colts?
As we’ve become accustomed to in recent years, Bayern are once again rolling the Bundesliga this year. They have a nine-point lead over Dortmund at the top of the table and have only dropped seven points so far with a loss and two draws.
Borussia Mönchengladbach, on the other hand, are struggling, having lost four of their last five games and are only 14th in the table. Last season’s Champions League participant is just two points away from the bargain sixteenth place.
Robert Lewandowski maintains a league average of over a goal per game, scoring nineteen goals in seventeen games. His assistant Thomas Müller has five goals and fifteen assists.
Jonas Hoffman is keeping the visitors afloat, the German winger has made seven Bundesliga appearances, but unfortunately has been injured and has missed the last two games. The diamond in the rough in the midfield in Florian Neuhaus has struggled, scoring only three goals so far.
Bayern dominate most of the Bundesliga statistics. It has scored the most goals (56), along with Freiburg the fewest (16). They boast a 14:1 record in their last four games.
Mönchengladbach are struggling defensively, having already got thirty-two goals, only Hertha Berlin (35) and last-placed Fürth (49) are worse.
Considering the terrible form of the visitors’ defence, I think Bayern will confirm their role as favourites and win by at least two goals.
