The highlight of Tuesday’s Champions League programme will be Bayern’s match against Barcelona. Moreover, Robert Lewandowski returns to Munich for the first time as an opponent, what to expect from the match and what to bet on?
Bayern entered the Champions League with a win over Inter Milan, but have struggled in the Bundesliga so far. They are third in the Bundesliga and two points behind the leaders Union Berlin. They have drawn three times in six rounds.
Barcelona clearly outclassed Pilsen in the first round of the group and are keeping up with Real Madrid in La Liga. It lost only two points for a draw in the first round, has won four times since then and is only two points behind second-placed leaders Real Madrid.
Sadio Mané is thriving on the home side after his transfer from Liverpool, the Senegalese winger has scored five times so far. Nineteen-year-old offensive midfielder Jamal Musiala is the team’s top scorer with six shots and two assists.
Local legend Robert Lewandowski will return to Munich, the Catalan summer signing has scored nine times and assisted twice so far. Then winger Ousmane Dembélé is in great form, scoring two goals and assisting four more.
Bayern have not done well at home so far, winning only one of their three games at the Allianz Arena, then drawing with Monchengladbach and Stuttgart.
Barcelona have been in incredible offensive form, apart from the opening draw with Vallecano and the 3-0 win over Sevilla, they have scored at least 4 goals against all other opponents this season.
Given the excellent form of the Lewandowski – Dembélé pair, I expect the Catalans not to lose. Then the bet on the Polish cannonballer to come through is also very tempting.
