- The match was a thrilling affair with four goals before the break
- Frankfurt equalised at the very end when Omar Marmoush scored in stoppage time
In the 6th round of the German Bundesliga, Bayern Munich faced Eintracht Frankfurt in a dramatic 3-3 draw. The match brought many exciting moments and both teams had chances to win. In the end, however, the match ended in a points division and Bayern remained at the top of the table.
The match started at a high tempo and Bayern Munich quickly built up pressure. After just a few minutes they took the lead thanks to a goal by Minjae Kim, who took advantage of the chaos in Frankfurt’s defence. The players alongside Harry Kane seemed to be in control of the game, but the home side Eintracht didn’t give up and quickly responded with a goal from Omar Marmoush after a quick counter attack.
Efficient Frankfurt on the counter attack
Frankfurt showed their dangerousness on the counter-attack, which was evident in their second goal. Hugo Etikité converted a chance after another quick action and the home side took the lead. Bayern, despite having the ball for most of the game and creating more chances, had to go close twice.
Bayern didn’t let themselves be caught off guard for long and managed to equalise before half-time thanks to a goal from Dayot Upamecan. Four goals were scored in the first half, making for a very attractive spectacle.
Bayern in the lead again
In the second half, Bayern seemed to take control of the game again. Michael Olise scored after a pass from Harry Kane and one of the best teams in Germany led 3:2 for a long time. The players continued to press, but Frankfurt defended fiercely and goalkeeper Kauã Santos made some great saves to keep his team in the game.
In the final minutes, Bayern looked for a definitive insurance policy, but Frankfurt kept on keeping in the game. The decisive moment came in the fourth minute of stoppage time when Omar Marmoush equalized with his second goal to make it 3-3. Bayern had no time to answer and had to settle for a draw, despite being the better team for most of the match.
For Harry Kane, this was not a typical match. Although he assisted on the third goal, he remained onside, which was surprising given his performances so far this season. Frankfurt’s defense did well to eliminate his main strengths, which was one of the factors why Bayern couldn’t finish the match.
Two teams are tied at the top of the table
Despite the draw, Bayern held on to the top spot in the Bundesliga along with rival Leipzig. Both currently have 14 points after six rounds of play. After the national break, Bayern will face another league rival, VfB Stuttgart, while Eintracht will continue to fight for better positions in the middle of the table.
