Bayer Leverkusen advanced without any problems against Hungarian side Ferencváros, who won 2-0 in Hungary. The goals were scored by Moussa Diaby and Amine Adli, Adam Hložek came off the bench for the final twenty minutes.
Bayer Leverkusen are back in form, not having lost since beating Monaco, and the team of coach Xabi Alonso is once again fighting for the European Cup.
In the Europa League, the German side is also performing as expected, beating Ferencváros 2-0 in the opening eight-final match and winning the same result in Hungary.
None of the Czech strikers were in the starting line-up, and Patrik Schick did not travel with the team, the reason being persistent groin problems.
Fans were treated to the first goal in the 3rd minute when Hungarian defender Moussa Diaby broke away and had no problem overcoming goalkeeper Denes Dibusz.
We had to wait until the end of the game, which was basically a shootout, for the second goal. Amine Adli made the final 2:0 for Bayer.
That made the quarter-finals clear. Hložek came on in the 71st minute but didn’t have much chance to confirm his qualities.
Leverkusen will play one more league match before the national break, on Sunday they will challenge the favourite for the title, Bayern Munich, at home.
