After AC Milan and Newcastle, Tottenham are also interested in Antonín Barák, according to Italian media. The 2018/19 Champions League semi-finalist is looking for a new offensive midfielder. With whom would Barak fight for a place?

Tottenham are currently coached by Antonio Conte, one of the best coaches of the last decade. Conte is famous for his three-stopper system, so the vast majority of his games are played in a 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 formation.

There would only be one spot open for Barak in these formations. In a 3-5-2 formation, he would be the most offensive central midfielder, and in a 3-4-3 system, he would be on the right wing. Who works in these positions?

In the first mentioned formation, Lucas Moura usually plays on the right wing. The Brazilian international has scored five goals and assisted five times this season, but has had problems with erratic performances. He always has one good month and then two mediocre ones. His strengths are speed and dribbling.

A very similar type of footballer is Steven Bergwijn. A Dutchman with quick feet who has reserves in the end and a problem with sustaining his performances over the long term. Barak would be a typologically different player at right winger, better in the final stages but not as dangerous in games where Spurs defend and play on the break.

We are moving to a 3-4-3 system, which would probably suit Barak much better. In this formation, Conte lacks the classic ten that Barak is. Dele Alli is sidelined, as is Tanguy Ndombele.

Giovani Lo Celso is the only offensive midfielder on the team. However, the Argentine international is injured and never convinced during his time in London that he has what it takes to be a regular in the starting line-up.

Given the aforementioned facts, Barak could have an unexpectedly good starting position at Tottenham. In the coming days, we will see what is the truth in the speculations and whether the Spurs management will manage to bring the Czech international in the winter transfer window.
