If we look in detail at the transfers made, the Catalan club has announced the arrival of six reinforcements so far. On the other hand, three players have left the Camp Nou.
Arrivals (€158 million)
Without a doubt the most anticipated signing is Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich. He is expected to greatly help the effectiveness of Barcelona’s attack, and so the club spent a considerable amount for him, namely €45 million.
However, the most expensive reinforcement is Raphinha, who cost the Spanish club 58 million euros. Barcelona, however, was extremely keen on his engagement and so they also paid extra for this gem.
The new signing is Jules Koundé from Sevilla. He too cost Barcelona dearly, after lengthy negotiations they paid 50 million euros for him. However, this is an investment in the club’s future.
Also worth mentioning is the arrival of Pablo Torre from Rayo Vallecano. This youngster cost Barcelona 5 million euros.
Departures (€20 million)
Barcelona did not benefit much from the departures. The most it received was for the transfer of Coutinho to Aston Villa, which was made for €20 million. Ultimately, Coutinho’s engagement was extremely loss-making for Barca.
The Spanish club also got rid of the talented Ferran Jutgly, who opted for a transfer to Bruges. The Belgian club then paid out €5 million.
Trincao’s loan spell at Sporting must also be included in the revenue. Sporting paid 3 million euros to Barcelona.
Thus, if we look at the summer revenues and transfer expenses, Barcelona is equal to 130 million euros in the negative. So the club will have to pick up the pieces very quickly to balance its economic situation.
