Barcelona will fight for the former megatalent with West Ham! Who is it?
When David Moyes once pulled him out of Manchester United’s academy, the Red Devils fans burst into tears of joy. Adnan Januzaj netted some crucial goals and many saw him as the new Cristiano Ronaldo, but after the departure of the Scottish manager, the player himself fizzled out.
Today, Adnan Januzaj is no longer a talented youngster, he is a mature 26 year old player and he is at Real Sociedad. Januzaj is a regular at the San Sebastian club, but it is rare that he plays a full game.
His contract at the Spanish club expires after this season, and he can start renegotiating his contract with his future employer as soon as the beginning of January. This means that a change of jersey could take place completely free of charge in the summer transfer window.
The football associations were once in a tug-of-war for a member of the Belgian national team’s wider squad. Belgium, Albania, Kosovo and England wanted him. Januzaj eventually reached for Belgium, for whom he played 13 games, scoring one goal and assisting once.
Now it looks like a tug of war between Barcelona and West Ham. The advantage for the Hammers could be that the offensive all-rounder has a very positive experience with manager David Moyes.
On the other hand, the Premier League is after all a slightly tougher competition than the Spanish La Liga and Januzaj has been plagued by frequent injuries during his career. Thus, Xavi’s Barcelona will also have an ace up their sleeve to negotiate.
All in all, West Ham have some really interesting transfer targets lined up for the next transfer window. In the winter transfer window, there is loud talk about the arrival of Jesse Lingard (Manchester United), Adam Hložek (Sparta Prague) or Flavius Daniliuc (Nice).
And Januzaj could join the Hammers in the summer. David Moyes may be slowly calculating the departure of the exuberant Jarrod Bowen, who is reportedly being courted by Liverpool.
