Preview
Life will come to a standstill in Spain for two hours on Sunday from 9pm. For Barcelona and Real Madrid, implacable rivals and perhaps the two greatest clubs in history, will run into each other at the Camp Nou. What to bet on in the famous El Clásico?
The biggest and most watched game in the world is here again. Barcelona and Real Madrid will face off this time in La Liga, where the Catalans have the upper hand so far.
Barcelona is leading the table by 9 points and if they win El Clásico, they would practically secure the league title. On the other hand, a loss would put Real back in the game.
Marc Andre ter Stegen is the biggest holdout this season. The goalkeeper, who has been a bit of a write-off in the past, has kept Barcelona in the game and thanks to him the Culés have the best defence in the league, conceding just eight times in 25 games.
The return of key midfielder Pedri is also a big boost for the Catalans. the 20-year-old midfielder has missed the last six games due to injury and Barcelona have lost two of them.
Real Madrid scored a decent boost in the week, beating Liverpool again and making it through to the Champions League quarter-finals. Now it has what looks to be its last chance to challenge for La Liga and defend its Spanish title.
Los Blancos have the clear upper hand in the last six La Liga matches. They have won 5 of them, the Blaugranas have won once. However, the Catalans have won the last two games between them, once in the Copa del Rey and once in the Spanish Super Cup.
It can be expected that Barcelona, as in the recent Cup semi-final, will rather lie low and wait to see what Real come up with. After all, they are in a better position and a draw suits the Culés more, so they have nowhere to go.
However, Real have been having quite a lot of trouble lately with playing into a closed defence and failing to force their way in. Therefore, it wouldn’t be unexpected if the game was broken in the second half.
