A poor Monday’s football schedule will feature a La Liga match between Barcelona and Girona. What to expect from the match between the first team and the team fighting for salvation and what to bet on?

Barcelona are surprisingly rolling in La Liga this year, they have 12 points at the top of the table and one game to spare. It is therefore basically the champion. It has won five of its last six games, falling only in the cup clash with Real Madrid.

Girona, with four points from the last two rounds, is out of the immediate fight for survival. It is currently in 11th place, but has a seven-point lead in the relegation zone in a balanced La Liga table.

Barcelona’s key figures

The hosts rely on Robert Lewandowski, author of 27 goals and seven assists. The Spanish international has scored twice and assisted six times.

Girona’s key figures

The visitors are led by captain and thirty-six year old icon Cristhian Stuani, the Uruguayan striker has already scored eight times. He is partnered on offense by Taty Castellanos, the Argentine hitman has netted seven goals and added an assist.

What to expect and what to bet on?

It’s incredible how sovereign Barcelona’s defence is in the league, even though they score quite a few goals in other competitions. It is clearly the best in La Liga with nine goals scored, while second best Alético has received 19 goals.

In contrast, Girona’s defence is its main weakness, with 42 goals already and the sixth worst defensive record in the league. It has received more than one goal in five of its last seven games, away four times in a row.

Considering the comfort of Barcelona’s squad due to the big lead and the disparity between the two defences, I think Barcelona will win by two or more goals in front of their home fans.
