Barcelona or PSG: Who is more successful in the free agent market?

Barcelona, which has nothing else left this year due to financial complications, is very active on the free agent market. It has brought in three uncommitted players. PSG, which could spend, has done something similar. But the three new players of the Parisian club are worth even more than those of Barcelona.
Barcelona are beset by financial problems. It is still unclear whether they will keep captain Lionel Messi. In order to offer their star a new contract, the Catalans need to be active, especially on the free agent market. No transfer bombshell – beyond keeping Messi – is expected in Barcelona this summer.
The Catalan big club has therefore brought in three players for free. Neither Sergio Agüero nor Eric García have extended at Manchester City. Agüero is eager to play with his long-time friend Messi, who even went on to be his son’s godfather. García has been through La Masia for a change, so he’s returning home.
The last new member of the team is Memphis Depay. He wanted to move to a new address after four and a half years in Lyon. Depay has a price tag of 45 million euros, García 20 and the ageing Agüero 18, according to the Transfermarkt website.
Barcelona have thus far saved 83 million euros on transfers.
But there is someone more successful! The three new signings, for whom Paris Saint-Germain didn’t spend a cent, are worth as much as €100 million.
The cheapest is Sergio Ramos, who is already 35 years old – 10 million. Liverpool will surely miss Georginio Wijnaldum for a change. When he refused to extend at Anfield, 30 million Euros were drained from the club’s coffers.
But AC Milan are licking their wounds the most. Gianluigi Donnarumma may only be 22 years old, but he was number one at the San Siro for an incredible six seasons. Recently, he was even named the best player of Euro 2020. No wonder he’s worth €60 million.
Donnarumma’s transfer was announced on Wednesday evening. So we have a new leader in the free agent market.
PSG, in addition to the three players mentioned, brought Achraf Hakimi from Inter Milan for 60 million euros.
