Despite Barcelona’s dire financial situation, the club is looking for ways to strengthen its squad. It is currently interested in two Chelsea defenders. Specifically, César Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen.
According to Fabrizio Romano’s twitter account, Barcelona is working to sign César Azpilicueta as a free agent in June.
They are offering him a two-year contract with a possible extension for another year. Chelsea are still waiting for the player’s decision on whether to extend his contract or leave for a Spanish club.
Barcelona is also further interested in Danish defender Andreas Christensen. The Danish stopper does not see his future at Chelsea, which has been confirmed by a number of sources close to the player and the club.
According to the Barca Times, the Danish defender and his representatives are demanding a big transfer bonus with his new contract. In addition to Barcelona, they are also in talks with Bayern Munich.
Despite the possible departures of these two players, Chelsea are not yet considering strengthening in the defensive ranks. Reece James is getting closer and closer to a return, Malang Sarr is showing good signs and Kenedy has been withdrawn from his loan spell.
However, it is not impossible that the club will make one last attempt to recall Emerson Palmieri, who is on loan at Lyon.
