Barcelona is struggling financially and therefore has to resort to sales. One of the players affected is Carles Aleñá. The Catalan midfielder, who has been through all of Barcelona’s selections, is transferring to Getafe.
Aleñá spent the second half of last season on loan at the aforementioned Getafe. During this loan spell, the 23-year-old central midfielder played a total of 22 games, scoring 2 goals and notching 2 assists.
Overall, Aleñá had a good performance and so it was no surprise that the Spanish club wanted to bring him permanently into their ranks. This was made official today and the Mataró native has signed for Getafe until 30 June 2026.
As part of the agreement between Barcelona and Getafe for the transfer of Carles Aleña, the Catalan club reserves the right to 50% of the profits from any future sale of the player.
In addition to this, Barcelona also has a buy-back option plus a right of first refusal on any offer.
Neither club has stated the amount of the transfer fee, but according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who specialises in football transfers, it should be in the region of €5 million.
Getafe will officially present Aleña as their player on Monday 12 July 2021 at 12:00 in the Coliseum press room.
