Lately, Barcelona hasn’t been putting in performances that would please its fans. On top of that, it has now come out how much it owes to other clubs for transfers, this amount will not please the fans either.

The daily Marca has come up with interesting information on how much Barcelona owes to various teams for player transfers. In total, it is 115 million euros. The original debt was up to a whopping €1.35 billion. Even though the club is now trying to save money and reduce the salaries of its players, the debt is quite high.

Joan Laporta, the president of Barcelona, has done a great job following his predecessor, who was Josep Maria Bartomeu. He was able to reduce the high debt by a large amount, but he was still unable to stop Lionel Messi from leaving the club because the club would be breaking the financial rules of the Spanish LaLiga.

Barcelona is indebted to several European clubs. It owes Italy’s Juventus just under 40 million euros for the transfer of Bosnian midfielder Miralem Pjanic. It owes England’s Liverpool €13 million for Brazilian Coutinho, who transferred to Barcelona in 2018.

It also owes money to the Netherlands’ Ajax, for example. To the latter, he still has to pay back slightly over €30 million for the transfer of midfielder Freddie de Jong and €16 million for defender Sergio Desta, who comes from the USA.

The full results of the audit will be officially presented by the Catalan club’s board of directors on Wednesday.
